One Lasting Kiss
It seems time has a
habit of slipping quickly past;
Years were only
yesterday, now memories, long last.
I find there are too
many of “What If ‘s” in my mind.
But I know that it
was meant to be- for it was my Mama‘s time.
My Mama lived a
simple life, she never traveled far.
She only had one
fancy dress, and she never drove a car.
All that mattered to
my Mom were her husband and her kids.
She made sure home
was special, and cooked some meals- she did.
She raised us all
with values that are with us still today.
She told us we were
precious- each in our own way.
And when the
grandkids came along her heart was full of joy.
I think it made her
life complete, when baby sister had a boy.
She was so many
things to us and always she was there.
Phone calls, visits,
shopping trips- you always knew she cared.
How I do wish Heaven
had a phone, so we could talk awhile.
Oh just to hear her
voice once more, would make my sad heart smile.
I know I speak for
all of us, when I say she’s sorely missed.
And I pray that God
will give to her- for us, one lasting kiss.
All the things my
Mama did; I’ll never comprehend.
She’ll always be
within my heart, for we were the Best of Friends.
