Eldest son of RL and Stella Rathbone, loving husband to Anne Forrest Rathbone, father to 2 beautiful daughters, Lisa Geer and Jo Anne Townley, grandfather to 4, Chelsea and Ashlee Greer and Taylor and Scott Townley Jr.
My brother loved his wife and family, delighted in his grandchildren, and he also loved the sea.
A veteran of the United States Navy, his favorite pastimes were to be with his wife, spending time with his daughters and their husbands, or spoiling his grandchildren. He enjoyed listening to Gospel music, especially from the Gaither's homecoming series, and he and my Pop shared many times just sitting in the backyard swing enjoying life. Harold was a natural on the water, and had spent many hours of study and execution to obtain his mastery of piloting tugs in & out of eastern seaboard harbors. But he most longed for the time that he could spend at home, so it was with an act of loving mercy that God called him home in his sleep in Feb., after coming off of the boat and spending a quiet evening with his wife Anne. Although his home-going was sudden, and has left a void, we know that he has been reunited with Pop and the saints in the presence of our Lord, and we look forward to our reunion one day in a land of no sorrow or pain. Psalms 23 was one of his favorite passages, and we are comforted by our knowledge that because of his faith in Jesus Christ, that passage is now truly fulfilled for him.
